Rice has banned all university-sponsored international travel for faculty, staff, postdocs and students through April 30. We recognize that in a limited number of cases, the impact of this decision could have significant professional consequences. If that is the case, an appeal may be made to the provost's office at email@example.com.
Any faculty, staff, new hire, student, new arriving student or visitor arriving from any Level 3 country, as defined by the CDC, must self-isolate and stay away from campus and student housing and have no physical contact with the Rice community for two weeks after returning to the U.S. This includes any students, faculty or staff traveling for personal reasons.
Rice Study Abroad programs, faculty-led programs, CLIC in-country programs, and the travel components of other academic programs (such as those run by the Center for Civic Leadership) are being canceled for Summer 2020. We are also not permitting student participation in third-party provider study abroad programs.
Gov. Abbott (TX) has issued both road and air traveler self-quarantine edict for persons traveling to Texas from certain areas and states. Please check the Texas Department of Human and Health Services website for the latest information.
Rice strongly discourages all domestic travel at this time.
Travel registration: We are requiring everyone in the Rice community who travels internationally for any reason to register their travel at this website: https://travelregistry.rice.edu. You will need to log in with your NetID. If you have questions, please contact the help desk at 713-348-HELP (4357) or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
