Reminder: On-Campus COVID-19 Vaccine Booster Clinic Oct. 11

This is a reminder that next week we are partnering with the Houston Health Department to provide the first of three vaccine clinics to our Rice Community members and their families to support receiving the COVID-19 Booster. The Clinic will be on Tuesday, October 11, from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm in the Grand Hall (Student Center).

People 12 years and older are recommended to receive one updated Pfizer or Moderna (bivalent) booster. If you are unclear as to whether you are eligible for a booster, the Houston Health Department and the CDC are defining eligibility as:

  • People who have received all primary series doses and people who have previously received one or more original (monovalent) boosters.
  • If you previously received a booster, you must wait at least two months (*note this is a correction from the Houston Health Department from the last communication) since the last COVID-19 vaccine.
  • At this time, people aged 12 years to 17 years can only receive the updated Pfizer bivalent booster.

Please consult with your healthcare provider for additional questions.

All walk-ins are welcome on Tuesday, we hope you will take this opportunity to receive the booster. If you wish to sign up for an advanced appointment time, please call the Houston Health Department at 832-393-4220, select “5” to speak to a call center representative, and request an appointment for your booster at the Rice University Vaccine Clinic on October 11.
