Message from the DOU: Update to July 14 Message

Dear students -

In order to provide returning students additional time to make a decision regarding their on-campus housing plans, especially our international students whose circumstances surrounding travel and US residency has been uncertain and shifted again with yesterday’s announcement, we are extending the penalty deadline for opting out of your housing contract from July 15 (today) to Friday, July 24. Students who decide on or before July 24 that they no longer want to live on campus, and indicate this decision on the survey link you were sent yesterday, will not be charged. Starting July 25, students who accepted a bed in the summer housing draw and now opt-out of on campus housing will be charged a late-withdrawal fee. Due to the uncertainty that many of you are facing regarding your fall housing plans, we are decreasing the late-withdraw fee from $1,000 to $500 for this semester only.

For incoming first-year students, the deadline to opt-in to on campus housing remains July 30. Changes and cancellations after that date will also be subject to penalties.
