COVID-19 Update: January 24, 2022

COVID-19 response weekly update

Dear colleagues,

As we begin the first week of full in-person instruction this semester, we continue to see evidence that the current COVID-19 wave is beginning to decline. However, we are not ready to make any policy changes this week.

There are a number of enhancements to the testing and contact tracing process that are rolling out this week. Please see last week’s message from the Crisis Management Team for details.

If you’re just returning to campus, please remember to schedule an on-arrival test and a follow-up test three to four days later.

Additional KN95 masks have been ordered and we expect to receive them this week. We ask that you wait to place an order until you plan to return to campus and that you only order the number of masks needed for your personal use. You will be notified when your order is ready for pick up at Delivery Services in the Post Office.

Vaccine Clinic. The vaccine clinic scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 3, will be held in the Grand Hall from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Houston Health Department has been having challenges with its online registration portal. The issues will not be fixed in time for the clinic, so the department is planning to take onsite registration and walk-ins. Please bring a photo ID with your birthday listed and your previously issued vaccine card if receiving a booster or second dose.
