From the CMT - General COVID-19 Guidance for the Upcoming Winter Recess

As the winter break approaches, we are thankful for the vibrant fall semester that we are concluding and hope that all of you are planning a wonderful and restful break with your family. As you prepare for holiday travel and festive events, we want to remind you that this season also brings increased COVID and flu cases along with the (slightly) colder weather. If you have not already received a flu shot and the latest COVID-19 booster, consider getting up to date on these as tools to help manage your health and keep your family and our campus population safe.

As you make holiday plans, we urge you to remember the basic health precautions that have served us well over the last few years - wash your hands often, wear masks when in large groups as appropriate, and test when you are experiencing COVID-like symptoms so that you can protect others by staying away from them, should you become ill.

Please remember that antigen test kits are still available on campus, and if you are experiencing any symptoms following the break, you should test. Undergraduate students should ask their college coordinators to assist them in getting access to test kits. Faculty, staff, and graduate students can order COVID-19 antigen test kits by following the instructions on this page. Links to the latest CDC guidance for when you are feeling sick, tested positive, or believe you have been exposed are still available on the coronavirus.rice.edu page.

We are thankful for the community support and approach to keeping our campus safe and hope you all have a wonderful break.
